Danger of Genetically Modified corn

I have no idea myself that eating GMO corn would make one sterile. Are they wiping out human race from earth? Maybe to save Mother Earth from over population? But then this is just insane. How many people still have no idea who Monsanto or what a GMO is?

Jellyfish Invasion

The jellyfish invasion all over the world is becoming critical. Warning from experts as reported by CNN (above) claims that jellyfish is taking over the oceans.

Do you know why?
Global warming & over fishing is only part of the problem. The single factor that directly affect jellyfish population is TURTLE. They are the check and balance for jellyfish. When the population of turtles decreases, the population of jellyfish explodes.

And why does the population of turtle decreases?
Pollution is the main culprit. Many turtles were found dead with plastic bags in their stomach. What goes around comes around! What we throw into the sea today will eventually affect us - killing us through the stings of jellyfish. Be warned ok.

For Big Oil There Is No Government Shutdown

Strange rule of law that only apply to people like you and me. This is a report from Center for Biological Diversity....

Because of Congress' inability to pass a budget, the US government has been shut down since Oct. 1. Federal government employees are going without salary. Government services have slowed to a stop, and public recreational spaces are closed for business. But wait, while public lands are closed to the public, landowners and corporations still have free rein to graze, mine, log, and drill for oil and gas there - meaning to continue to destroy the land for their greed.

Americans who who have traveled thousands of miles to hike and camp in public lands are being turned away from the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, and other national monuments and parks across the country. But for the oil and gas industry, business as usual goes on without a hiccup.

Even more alarmingly, the shutdown has sent everyone in charge of enforcing the rules that protect our lands and wildlife home without pay.

It doesn't matter you are from which part of the world. We want to keep this earth as green as possible. Take action now with Rep. Grijalva to close public lands to fossil fuel companies during the government shutdown. Do your part goto this LINK

World Habitat Day

Today, the first day of October is the World Habitat Day for Humanity which is to create awareness on the need for affordable housing for human. When more affordable housing and land are cleared for human habitat, it would naturally encroach into natural habitat areas. Natural areas with rich biodiversity will be at the losing end. Today will be the day against May 22 which is the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) for understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.

Think about that!

Mist Nets Horror

Two mist nets were found within PBA's water intake & pumps along Muda River. Looking at the bird carcasses, the nets should have been there for many months. How can such illegal trapping get away without anyone (eg staff working in PBA & JPS) noticing the mist nets?

Group told Penang Government: Use Tougher Law Against Hill Wreakers

Its never too late to voice opinion. And now activists urge Penang authorities to also blacklist errant developers.

GEORGE TOWN: Several civic groups here have demanded that authorities use the Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) against real estate developers who destroy hills, saying the Streets, Drainage and and Building Act (SDBA) is too lenient. About a dozen organisations and several individual activists passed a resolution to that effect at a meeting here today.

They also resolved to appoint a delegation to meet state and local authorities over the issue and to pressure them to blacklist companies found guilty of illegal hillside clearance. The meeting was occasioned by a recent court case in which General Accomplishment Sdn Bhd was fined RM30,000 under the SDBA for causing destruction to Bukit Relau. The SDBA provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000, but the Sessions Court judge in the case said he had decided on a lesser amount because it was the company’s first offence. The groups that endorsed today’s resolution included Penang Forum, Penang Heritage Trust, Malaysian Nature Society, Penang Consumer Protection Association, Residents Association of Jesselton, Sungai Ara Residents Association, Tanjung Bungah Residents Association, Pykett Residents Group, Taman Sri Nibong Residents Association, Bayan Bay Residents Association and Penang Citizens Awareness Chant Group. They want the authorities to frame a new charge under the TCPA against General Accomplishment, its directors and executives.
They pointed out in a press statement that the TCPA would be more effective as a deterrent since it provided for a maximum fine of RM500,000 and a two-year jail term. Furthermore, unlike the SDBA, it provides for the punishment of the directors and executives of the offending company.

The Botak Hill aka Bukit Relau off Bukit Gambier

If you are coming to Penang Island using the Penang Bridge, you will not miss this Botak Hill. Today my CM just said, "No one is above the law". Is it? Then why are you taking such a looong time to book the culprit? Already more than one week....

When profit is more important than pollution.

This news (dated 18th March 2013) about the expansion of a sugar refinery is worrying. At 1000 metric tonnes, the untreated discharge already so frightening. If 4 times the output, it will be 4 times the output of pollution as compare to today. Read the news and see for yourself the picture taken on 17th March 2013 at the factory in Prai, Penang.

At the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia -Tanjung Piai (Johore) one can be proud to read “Congratulations! You are now standing at the Southern Most Tip of Mainland Asia.” But our southern tip of Penang Island is a real disgrace! You find that the Hanson's Quarry is getting nearer to the southern tip each day (refer map). Soon, anyone cruising towards Penang Island on the new second Penang Bridge will notices this ugly patch on the south of Penang Island. Let me share some of the secret of this southern tip.

Unfortunately it is a private land...

The tranquil atmosphere at Pantai Ikan Mati (Dead fish beach), the southern tip of Penang Island. The name was given to this beach because fishermen threw unwanted fish which littered the beach.

Rare Pygmy Elephants Poisoned

Source: TheSunDaily.Com Jan 30, 2013

Ten endangered Borneo pygmy elephants were found to be poisoned according to the latest news. Wildlife authorities in Sabah have formed a task force to investigate the deaths... Investigate the cause or investigate the culprit that poisoned the elephants?

I already knew the answer...
1. Natural habitat of pygmy elephants lost to deforestation and human encroachment.
2. Human poisoned the elephants when they visit their former habitat.

Solution: Stop deforestation, logging, plantation and human encroachment.

Who said the elephants encroached into human territory?
